Speleomics: omics insights into subterranean ecosystems

چکیده
The vocable 'omics' encompasses genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics. All these subfields deal with what used to be called "big data" that describe complex interactions. What can the use of such highly sophisticated approaches when dealing caves other subterranean environments? Are ecosystems omics-worth? Throughout this presentation, I will discuss recent, ongoing planned studies used, or using omics approach shed light on biology biodiversity cave ecosystems, as well often invisible interspecific interactions they help reveal. Far from replacing traditional taxonomy naturalist studies, propose blend them gain a more holistic understanding ecosystem. dub brave new field 'speleomics'.

Novel Insights into Adipogenesis from Omics Data
Obesity, the excess accumulation of adipose tissue, is one of the most pressing health problems in both the Western world and in developing countries. Adipose tissue growth results from two processes: the increase in number of adipocytes (hyperplasia) that develop from precursor cells, and the growth of individual fat cells (hypertrophy) due to incorporation of triglycerides. Adipogenesis, the ...
متن کاملIntegrating Omics and Alternative Splicing Reveals Insights into Grape Response to High Temperature1[OPEN]
Heat stress is one of the primary abiotic stresses that limit crop production. Grape (Vitis vinifera) is a cultivated fruit with high economic value throughout the world, with its growth and development often influenced by high temperature. Alternative splicing (AS) is a widespread phenomenon increasing transcriptome and proteome diversity. We conducted high-temperature treatments (35°C, 40°C, ...

متن کاملOmics-Based Insights into Flavor Development and Microbial Succession within Surface-Ripened Cheese
In this study, a young Cheddar curd was used to produce two types of surface-ripened cheese, using two commercial smear-culture mixes of yeasts and bacteria. Whole-metagenome shotgun sequencing was used to screen the microbial population within the smear-culture mixes and on the cheese surface, with comparisons of microorganisms at both the species and the strain level. The use of two smear mix...
متن کاملEmerging insights into the biology of metastasis: A review article
Metastasis means the dissemination of the cancer cells from one organ to another which is not directly connected to the primary site. Metastasis has a crucial role in the prognosis of cancer patients. A few theories, different types of cell and several molecular pathways have been proposed to explain the mechanism of metastasis. In this work, the related articles in the limited period of time, ...
